The rapid growth of cloud-based big data environments has led to significant advancements in data storage, processing, and analytics. However, the management of privacy in such environments remains a critical challenge due to the volume, variety, and velocity of data involved. This paper explores the privacy management issues specific to cloud-based big data environments, emphasizing the risks and vulnerabilities that arise due to data aggregation, sharing, and storage in distributed cloud infrastructures. We propose solutions, including encryption, decentralized data management, and the implementation of privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs). The paper also discusses regulatory and compliance challenges, with a focus on aligning privacy management strategies with international standards such as the GDPR and HIPAA. Finally, we explore future directions and the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing privacy management within these environments.
