The exponential growth of big data has highlighted critical challenges in data privacy, security, and ethical handling. A robust Data Governance Framework (DGF) is essential to manage data assets responsibly while ensuring user trust and compliance with evolving regulations. This article systematically examines various data governance models designed to protect privacy in big data environments. It identifies key principles such as transparency, accountability, and user-centric consent management. The study further evaluates the effectiveness of selected frameworks against privacy risks inherent in large-scale data ecosystems. Two comparative graphs illustrate the adoption trends of data governance models across industries and the correlation between strong governance and data breach reduction. Through an extensive review of recent literature, this article provides insights and practical recommendations for developing adaptable, privacy-preserving governance frameworks suitable for organizations operating in the era of big data.
